Communication is key to your Cadet’s success, especially when it comes to homesickness. Your Cadet’s emotional health can affect how they do in school, their relationships with family, friends, fellow Cadets, staff, and how well they handle new challenges. Please take the time to keep your Cadet informed on what is going on at home and to provide positive encouragement.

Another form of communication to your Cadet is through our online Cadet Note. Our online system is a way for parents, caregivers, mentors, and friends to send free messages directly to their Cadets. Messages are printed and delivered to Cadets nightly at mail call (between 7:30pm - 9:00pm). Messages are subjected to screening by staff for inappropriate content. You can send messages via the link below.click to Contact a current Cadet
We know you’re curious about what your cadet is up to during their time at OYCP! We make a point to take lots of photos to document their experience so you can look back on the memories together. View our photo gallery below.view photos

OYCP Graduation will be held at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center in Redmond, Oregon on December 13, 2023. Doors open at 10:00 am and it is first come first serve for seating. We always fill the building so plan to arrive early if you want seating. We ask that all signs and balloons stay at the rear of the building so everyone can see. We also ask that you refrain from wearing a hat in the building as it blocks attendees’ views as well. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you there to celebrate with our cadets.
