Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, OYCP has put in place many new procedures to protect cadets and staff in the OYCP facility. OYCP will follow all recommendations and requirements from Oregon Health Authority and the Center for Disease Control and will be fully transparent with cadets and families about the actions we will take to keep the cadets and staff healthy and safe.
In response to questions from families about what we are going to do to keep their cadets in our facility safe due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have put together the following information:
- Cleaning and Disinfecting
All living areas in the facility will be cleaned multiple times per day, following OHA and CDC recommendations. This includes disinfecting sleeping areas, restrooms, eating areas, doors, countertops and all surfaces.
- Handwashing and Personal Hygiene
Cadets will be educated on how to stop the spread of viruses. All cadets will have access to soap and water for handwashing. Hand sanitizer will be readily available throughout the facility. Posters will be in place to encourage cadets to wash their hands frequently for at lease 20 seconds, to cough and sneeze into the crook of their elbow and to use tissue. The cadets will be encouraged to refrain from touching their face, mouth and eyes.
These are the most effective methods to prevent the spread of viruses.
- Face Coverings
Cadets and staff will wear face masks as a precaution. Face masks will be provided by OYCP.
- Physical Distancing
OYCP will be closed to the general public. All service to community events, on-site mentor trainings, career fairs and family visitation days will be canceled in order to reduce the risk of outside exposure to the cadets.
Physical distancing will require OYCP to increase the use of social media, telephone calls, email, zoom meetings and on-line training to communicate with parents, guardians and mentors
We will limit the number of cadets in all areas to ensure physical distancing requirements are met.
- Daily Operational Preventative Measures
We are following the normal influenza prevention protocols from OHA and from the CDC.
Staff will follow guidance from the Oregon Military department and will not report to work if they are sick.
There will be 100% mandated screening of anyone entering our facility to include staff.
Everyone will go through a symptoms screen and have their temperature taken. If they fail screening, they will leave immediately.
If staff call in and state they do not feel well or are showing warning signs/symptoms of COVID-19, the Director or Deputy Director will direct them to remain at home and self-quarantine, following the CDC guidelines and time tables, including obtaining a doctor’s note to clear them before returning to work.
- Modified Intake day for Incoming Applicants
OYCP is creating a new process for parents to drop off their sons and daughters that is efficient and safe. This information will be sent to parents and applicants in your invitation packets.
OYCP is committed to keep your child safe, provide a clean and safe environment and take all necessary precautions in order to ensure cadet safety.
Sincerely,
Dan Radabaugh, Program Director.
